The 200-passenger expedition cruise ship MS World Explorer left the West Sea shipyard in Portugal on Friday, the 2nd of August 2019, to make her way to Reykjavik (Iceland), but not before making another important stop: After her successful handover to owner Mystic Cruises, the christening ceremony took place on Saturday, the 3rd of August 2019 in Portugal, with Carla Bruni Sarkozy, former first lady of France, being the godmother.

The ship is chartered for a short summer season to German operator Nicko Cruises, before she starts the 2020-2021 winter season with Quark Expeditions.

Schulte Marine Concept (S.M.C), the project management arm of leading international maritime services company Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), working together with Bernhard Schulte Cruise Services was awarded the build supervision contract by Mystic Cruises in October 2017.

Schulte Marine Concept provided technical consultancy and newbuild supervision services to support construction of the ocean-going luxury expedition cruise ship. S.M.C’s extensive experience with highly complex projects in major shipyards, a growing portfolio of passenger ships and its international newbuilding expertise were crucial elements to support the completion of the newbuilding.
